International links of SENDO
The European Drug Development Network (EDDN)
Since 1999, SENDO, together with the Cancer Research Campaign - UK and the
EORTC, has been part of the EDDN.
The EDDN was born with the aim of coordinating the early clinical trial efforts of the
three founding organizations in order to minimize duplication and time wasting.
Through EDDN large trials or family of trials can be more widely shared while
scientifically complex studies can now access a wider range of specialists’ facilities.
SENDO-NCI Agreement
International collaboration is reinforced through the NCI-SENDO Agreement signed in June
2000. This agreement permits and regulates the exchange of information and compounds
between the two parties.
The agreement enables SENDO to carry out Secondary Screening
on NCI compounds, and to pursue further development of candidate agents, under NCI
assistance, with the objective that they may enter clinical trials either in Europe or the USA.
International Cooperative Project Assurance (OPRR)
SENDO has been granted an International Certificate released by the OPRR- NIH (Office
for Protection from Research Risks, National Institute of Health), which allows SENDO Centers
to collaborate with US centers involved in all areas of cancer treatment clinical research.
The Hospital of Bellinzona Ethics Committee is functioning as SENDO reference IRB.
