Organizational Structure of SENDO
SENDO Foundation Board
The Board defines the strategy and future directions of SENDO, assesses its performance, nominates the Scientific
Committee members and oversees the budget.
The Board meets twice a year. The Board nominates the Director, who is responsible for coordinating all SENDO activities.
The Board is composed by the Founding and the Participating Members.
Prof Franco Cavalli is the current President.

Scientific Comitte - SC
The SC establishes the specific strategy of SENDO, selects the new
agents for drug development, approves research projects, etc.
The
members of the SC are nominated by the Board among the senior
scientists of SENDO‘s affiliate Institutions.
The SC meets on a regular basis to decide on each step of the
development process of drug candidates.
Once a year the SC meets with additional honorary members who
are international experts on drug development.
Dr Maria Grazia Donelli is the SC’s Scientific Secretary.

Headquarters - HQ
The HQ is the operative hub of SENDO and the central point for
communication with anyone interested in
submitting a new molecule for research and preclinical/clinical development.
Within the HQ are located the in-house functions of SENDO for biostatistics,
protocol development, project and data management, clinical trial monitoring,
reporting and publications, international coordination and regulatory affairs.
The HQ are located in Milan - Italy and managed by SENDO‘s director, Dr Silvia Marsoni.

Scientific Executive Committee - SEC
The SEC, formed by SENDO’s Director and Coordinators,
is the link between the Scientific Comittee and the Headquarters.

Clinical Network - CliNet
SENDO is connected with different cancer centers and oncology
departments in the Southern Europe area (see facilities),
coordinated by senior investigators with longstanding expertise
in early clinical trials and specific disease-oriented areas (breast,
ovarian, GI, lung cancer, sarcomas, lymphomas).
The Clinical Network comprises a SENDO Clinical Core of four
Institutions specifically committed to phase I/II trials and translational
research and a number of Clinical Affiliates dedicated to Phase II trials.
Dr Cristiana Sessa is SENDO’s Clinical Coordinator.
Dr Luca Gianni is SENDO’s Clinical Pharmacology Coordinator.

Experimental Network - ExNet
SENDO’s ExNet comprises several laboratories, each with
different expertise, which are responsible for all in-house preclinical and
translational research efforts and for coordinating on demand activities.
Dr Maurizio D’Incalci is SENDO’s Preclinical Coordinator.
Dr Luca Gianni is SENDO’s Clinical Pharmacology Coordinator.
